VK2RCN 2m Repeater back on the air.

Illustrated: repeater repeating.

The Telegraph Point VK2RCN 147.000 MHz 2 metre repeater is back on the air. The repeater failed some weeks ago. Sincere apologies for the repeater not being available in recent weeks. This morning, Wednesday the 13th of October 2021, the repeater was replaced by a newly repaired Yaesu DR-1X repeater and the 147.000 MHz repeater is now back in service.

Thank you to Lyle VK2SMI for repairing and modifying the replacement repeater. Thank you to Lyle VK2SMI, Ian VK2GL and Dennis VK2DAM for carrying out the on site work this morning to install the replacement repeater.

Lyle VK2SMI is now repairing and modifying the faulty repeater from Telegraph Point so that it can be installed at Middle Brother Mountain to replace the VK2RPM 438.525 MHz UHF repeater which is currently transmitting on low power.

The Telegraph Point VK2RCN 147.000 MHz repeater input frequency is 146.4 MHz. Please note that this requires radios to transmit with a -600 kHz offset. Most radios will automatically transmit with a +600kHz offset on 147.000 MHz so remember to manually select a -600kHz repeater offset if you are using your radio in the VFO or frequency select mode. The simple solution is to save the 147.00 MHz receive frequency with a -600kHz repeater transmit offset in a memory channel. Note that the 147.000 MHz repeater will automatically accept either analog FM or Yaesu System Fusion C4FM digital voice transmissions  on its 146.4 MHz input frequency but will always transmit on 147.000 MHz in the analog FM mode. No CTCSS tone is required when transmitting into the repeater in the analog FM mode. The VK2RCN 147.000 MHz repeater does not have Echolink access.
